Sandra Lowe Tbh basically every American agrees that the imperial system is stupid when you mention it. They had to learn the conversions they didn't just get together and decide it (the average person I mean) - they're not attached to it lol Nicole Vivian Connie Pereira Cassy Heichel How many fucking posts are you gonna make about this? Katherine Rossborough Ahh I'm bored and need something to make myself feel better, what should I do. *Bash US* Kelley Darling Tessier Funny thing is that Americans use both imperial and metric. They are bilingual in measurement units. All you clowns thinking that we don't use metric in USA have obviously never been here. Erika Miller Why do so many people care what system Americans use in America? I'm an American and I use both on a regular basis. There is nothing inherently superior or inferior in the usage of different systems of measurement. I don't know any American who has ever made a claim to the contrary. MA RB HY UK uses miles instead of kilometres, feet and inches (certainly in measuring people) rather than metres, stones and pounds in weighing people - so it’s not just the US, it’s a large part of the English speaking world. Jessie Ann It's not just the metric system... It's like a pile of things... Donnie Omar Unless you are a physicist making calculations, a programmer who needs to add a few extra functions for conversions, or an engineer making international adjustments, why would you freaking care what happens in other country? How does this actually effect you? Shaira Fernandez David There are two types of countries: those that use the metric system, and those who put a man on the moon. Toukta Manibod You know we use Both Right? Like were a land of immigrants we have to use Both so everyone understands, just depends on the context of the measurement in use Nwobodo Emeka Stanley Nah, we don’t care what you use. However, trying to force your ways onto us...that’s pretty stupid. Brea Alyse I'm not familiar with the imperial system, but isn't it based on numbers having many divisors? In that case it kinda makes sense... in a way. Katie Elizabeth They do. I was helping a friend translate for a presentation for the international market for their business into English. When the term MU came up, it was than my told me that they have there own domestic system. 1MU is approximately equal 6.6 kilometers. 1Li is 0.32mm, 1bu is 1.6 meters, etc. Camille C. Campbell Imperial system is used for everyday talk but most everyone knows metric too. Metric is always used in any science class which means that basically anyone above grade 7 understands those units. It might not be common but but if you ask someone something using metric they will probably understand. That Is my experience at least Lauren Gilliam We have both systems and are required to learn conversions in school. It's just that there is no economic incentive to switch to just metric.
